Celebrating Advent’s New Playground

On October 13, we celebrated the official completion of our new playground! This project was a tremendous undertaking and it was only possible because of a community that is incredibly generous and supportive. We want to thank everyone who was involved in making this new space a reality, from donors, to committees who gave their input on the design, to teachers and students who exercised remarkable patience while the construction was ongoing.

The project broke ground on September 14. During the weeks of construction, we expectantly observed each step in the demolition and construction process. Students were thrilled to see a crane deliver equipment and watch as the new playground took shape. After we said goodbye to the structures that gave Advent students fond memories for two decades, we could not wait to see the playground that a new generation of Advent students will grow up with. The final result was well worth the wait!

The day the project was finished, Mrs. Vaughn announced the news in Assembly and the whole school erupted with cheers. All of the students and teachers then took their first steps onto the new playground to celebrate together. After just one full week with the newly completed playground, it has already been a source of immense joy. Students from JPK - 8th grade have enjoyed making new memories, and we cannot wait to see all the fun our students have in this space for many years.

Last Wednesday, the Student Council Officers, the school Leadership Team, Trustees, and friends celebrated the new playground with a special blessing and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Canon Gardner said a special blessing for the new playground, and Student Council President Lillian Joiner '25 cut the ceremonial ribbon. After the formalities, our guests enjoyed seeing some of our Pre-K and JPK students in action as they filled the playground with laughter.

We could not be more delighted with the new playground, and each day that we see students enjoying it reminds us of how grateful we are for the Advent Episcopal School community.
