Congratulations, Mamsy!

On February 17, Anne Barton, known as Mamsy to her students and colleagues, was honored with the Prix D’Excellence pour Services Rendus à la Culture Française by the Alabama chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French. This “Award of Excellence for Services Rendered to the French Culture” recognizes Mamsy’s outstanding commitment to inspiring students to appreciate French language and culture.

Mamsy has shared her abiding love of French with Advent students for over 20 years. In her role teaching the 5th through 8th grades, she helps students build confidence in reading, writing, and speaking in French. She also leads the French Club, whose annual appearance in the state French Convention gives the students invaluable experience in public speaking and musical performance in another language.

The French program is a vital part of the Advent experience. All Advent students from Junior Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grade study French with the guidance of three extraordinary teachers. Graduates enter high school with a strong foundation for proficiency in this beautiful language and an eagerness to experience the joys of world languages.
