Scholars Bowl Successes!

On January 17, Advent’s Scholars Bowl team will be heading to Montgomery to compete in the state tournament! In November, they won the AISA district competition by an incredible margin. This achievement also earned them an invitation to participate in the NAQT national middle school tournament, which will be held in Chicago from May 10-12.

The Scholars Bowl team is made up of 5th-8th graders and sponsored by our terrific librarian, Rachel Joiner. In their competitions, the team uses their fast reflexes and quick wit to answer wide-ranging questions about science, literature, history, art, sports, current events, pop culture, and more. They recently demonstrated their talents with a mock competition during our Friday morning assembly, and the students and teachers were all thoroughly impressed.

Ahead of the state tournament, they will also participate in a taped competition, so you can catch them on Alabama Public Television on weekend mornings. We are so proud of these students and we cannot wait to cheer them on as they represent Advent throughout the rest of the year!
