Below, we would like to highlighgt two of the Capstone experiences that our 8th Graders enjoyed this year:
Discover Bham
One of the cornerstones of our curriculum is the "Discover Bham" program, where every Friday afternoon, our 8th graders set out to explore the vibrant cultural tapestry of Birmingham. Beyond the confines of their classrooms, students embarked on journeys to iconic local landmarks like the Birmingham Museum of Art and the sprawling wilderness of Red Mountain Park. These excursions weren't just recreational outings; they were immersive learning experiences that allowed our students to connect with their community, appreciate diverse perspectives, and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.
Survey of Science:
In the realm of science education, our students engaged in hands-on learning through the "Survey of Science" program. Twice a week, they ventured into the realm of practical application, where textbook knowledge came to life amidst the wonders of nature and the marvels of modern technology. Whether kayaking among the rich biodiversity of Turkey Creek Nature Preserve or peering into the intricacies of the anatomy lab at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, our students were encouraged to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and cultivate a spirit of scientific inquiry.
